Virgil C. Wallen

December 31, 1932 - September 22, 2011

Virgil C. Wallen, 78, of Janesville passed away Thursday, September 22, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home. Virgil was born in Webster County, IA on December 31, 1932, the son of Ivar and Helen (Peterson) Wallen. He graduated from Otho, IA High School, from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL and attended classes at the University of Chicago Business School. Virgil married Patricia Baukol on October 21, 1956. They moved to Janesville in 1963 and Virgil was employed as a data processing manager by Parker Pen Company. In 1979, he and his wife, Patricia, opened Budget Print Center which they operated until their retirement. Virgil was a very active member of First Lutheran Church where he served on many committees and as president of the congregation. As a member of the Janesville Noon Kiwanis Club, Virgil received several awards for his activities.

Virgil Wallen is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia, two beloved sons, Jeffrey (Julie) of San Antonio, TX, and Daniel (Michelle) of Waunakee, WI; five grandchildren, Alexander, Carter, Sophia, Stephanie and Benjamin. He is further survived by a nephew, Dennis, who resided in the Wallen home for many years. In addition to his parents, Virgil was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Marvin.

Visitation will be at First Lutheran Church, 612 N. Randall Ave., Janesville on Monday, September 26, 2011 from 10:30 a.m. to Noon with funeral services to follow at Noon at the Church. Rev. James Melvin will officiate. Burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association or First Lutheran Church.
